CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric performance motorcycles, today announced a partnership with the team of the Gotland Ring race track to amplify e-motorcycle racing and electric motorbike riding. Gotland Ring is situated on the Swedish island of Gotland in the middle of the Baltic Sea and is a frequent test location for the team at CAKE. The circuit, designed by the founder and social and environmental entrepreneur Alec Havrén, is recognized as the world’s first sustainable race track and driver training venue.

“I first met Alec at my summer house in Gotland two years ago when Niclas Ihrén, head of CAKEWorks (CAKE’s sustainability forum), brought him to my summer house in Gotland,” commented founder and CEO of CAKE, Stefan Ytterborn. “Alec being a professional car racer, had his first ride on the Kalk OR. Struck by the performance, shouting out: we need to do something together”.

Ytterborn continued

“Ever since we built the first test track in 2017, the racing side of the CAKE ecosystem has been a clear target for us. Additionally, Alec has been working fiercely to transition toward sustainability and electric with wind, solar and a surrounding infrastructure that is truly establishing Gotland Ring as a global hub. So, when Alec said we ought to collaborate, I knew we absolutely had to align our ambitions and do it. Now is the time!”

Commenting on the collaboration, Alec Havrén stated,

“Cake is the perfect collaborative partner to join forces with to further push forward the paradigm shift within mobility. Through e-mobility, edutainment related projects, and sports, we can jointly further our common goals within sustainability and "joie de vivre". This cooperation falls in line with our core modus operandi and smart mobility vision. Gotland GPe Circuit/GotlandRing is also an active player within traffic electrification and smart infrastructure. As part of this journey, electrifying motorsport is one of many constructive avenues forward. At GotlandRing, we look eagerly forward to working together with CAKE within many synergetic fields.”
