CAKE Establishes European Factory in Sweden

CAKE, announced the opening of its new factory in Albyberg, Stockholm, Sweden.

CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric motorcycles announced the opening of its new factory in Albyberg, Stockholm, Sweden. In line with its sense of obligation to the planet and the bold mission to inspire society towards a zero-emission lifestyle, CAKE continues to rapidly scale up sustainable production by establishing local manufacturing hubs closer to customers in its primary markets.

“Aside from the environmental benefits of decreasing the distance that product travels to get to market, there are a number of business rationales and customer benefits to this move. Manufacturing closer to the customer shortens delivery times, which aids cash flow and dramatically decreases the amount of capital employed in finished goods” remarked Stefan Ytterborn CEO & founder of CAKE.

The Albyberg factory, south of Stockholm, is the first of CAKE’s local manufacturing facilities to come online. It will be fully operational by the end of July and will serve the European market. Corresponding facilities are planned to serve the North American and Asian markets in a similar fashion.

"The dynamics of the Albyberg facility caters to speedy expansion toward our goal of producing 20,000 units annually. We also expect to employ more than 250 workers in Albyberg alone by 2025. It’s a natural and crucial step in the journey of scaling production in a vehicle industry” said Ytterborn.

CAKE is investing a total of $25 million in the new factory, and as rapid growth continues it expects to employ more than 1,000 employees globally by 2030.

"I'm very excited about this first step in our regional assembly establishment. In addition to environmental and capital efficiency improvements, our new plant in Albyberg, with its proximity to CAKE headquarters, will decrease time to market, support our continuous quality improvement efforts, and improve how we move from development and engineering to manufacturing, all of which are important aspects as we continue to scale our operations" said CAKE COO Per Werin.
