Petersen Automotive Museum selects CAKE Kalk for its upcoming exhibition
CAKE’s flagship product will be featured in the Electric Revolution exhibition opening April 2019
– CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric off-road performance motorcycles, today announced that its flagship product, the CAKE Kalk, will be featured in the Petersen Automotive Museum upcoming exhibition, Electric Revolution. Having received 20+ international design and innovation awards since its debut in January of 2018, the CAKE Kalk will be on display beginning April 6.
As popularity of electric vehicles rapidly increases, for e-bikes in particular, Electric Revolution breaks new ground as the world’s first exhibition featuring only electric motorcycles. Produced by the Motorcycle Arts Foundation, the new exhibition will explore the history and current state of the electric industry, seen through the handiwork of both visionary home-builders and established manufacturers, with ultra-stylish contemporary designs that point the way to the future.
"CAKE at the Petersen Automotive Museum is, for us, like a painter having their art hung next to Mona Lisa in the Louvre. It's huge! Thank you to Paul d'Orleans and the Petersen Automotive Museum for acknowledging CAKE and our journey to develop and define a new category of uncompromising performance electric motorbikes to inspire acceleration towards a zero emission society by combining excitement with responsibility. This first year launching the CAKE Kalk has been somewhat a museum crusade, The Design Museum in London, the National Museum in Stockholm and now the Petersen,” says Stefan Ytterborn, CEO & founder of CAKE.
The Petersen Automotive Museum, one of the world’s largest automotive museums specializing in automobile history, envisions a rapidly evolving, multi-dimensional society in which the museum thrives as a progressive, globally respected center for automotive research and collecting; the focal point for automotive history, culture and enthusiasm in the United States; and a premier educational institution in Los Angeles. The museum’s mission is to explore and present the history of the automobile and its impact on global life and culture using Los Angeles as the prime example. The Electric Revolution exhibition does just that.
Built with a purpose to inspire people to contribute to speeding up the journey towards a zero emission society by combining excitement and responsibility, the all-electric high-performance off-road motorbike brand is designed for exploration and discovery. First launched in January 2018 at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Denver, the first model – the Kalk – was recognized as “Best in Show” by several outdoor industry publications and has received numerous accolades since. With a focus on design, performance and innovation, every single component of the Kalk had to be custom built, resulting in numerous patents pending. The CAKE Kalk proves electric vehicles can still be aesthetically pleasing while being eco-friendly.
Electric Revolution opens at the Petersen Automotive Museum on Saturday, April 6. The Kalk costs $13,000 USD, and is now available now for order on ridecake.com with a deposit of $200 USD.
