CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric off-road performance motorcycles, today announced that the flagship product, the CAKE Kalk, will be added to the Swedish NationalMuseum permanent collection. Having received 15 international design awards since its debut in January of 2018, the CAKE Kalk will be on display for years to come."True honor! We received a nice letter, humbly asking if we would consider the CAKE Kalk Electric Motorcycle to become a part of NationalMuseum’s collection and yes, of course! A year has passed since the CAKE Kalk was first presented. With 15 international design awards during the year this was the pinnacle! Thank you for the appreciation," says Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of CAKE.

Nationalmuseum Stockholm is Sweden’s museum of art and design. PHD Cilla Robach, senior curator, is happy to include CAKE Kalk in the collection.

“We acquire contemporary design that we believe can have an impact for future design and that has aesthetic quality. Regaring Kalk, it has an innovative approach to the problem of sustainability, keeping the joy of riding a bike with design attitude.”

Nationalmuseum is also a government authority with a mandate to preserve cultural heritage and promote art, interest in art and knowledge of art. The collections comprise of painting, sculpture, drawings and prints from 1500-1900 and applied arts, design and portraits from early Middle Ages up until present day.

Built with a purpose to inspire people to contribute to speeding up the journey towards a zero emission society by combining excitement and responsibility, the all-electric high-performance off-road motorbike brand is designed for exploration and discovery. First launched this past January at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Denver, the first model – the Kalk – was recognized as “Best in Show” by several outdoor industry publications and has received numerous accolades since. With a focus on design, performance and innovation, every single component of the Kalk had to be custom built, resulting in numerous patents pending. The CAKE Kalk proves electric vehicles can still be aesthetically pleasing while being eco-friendly.

The Kalk costs $13,000 USD, and is now available now for order on ridecake.com with a deposit of $200 USD.
