Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards Announces CAKE Kalk as a Finalist

The Swedish electric motorcycle brand is honored to be a finalist for Outdoor Retailer’s inaugural Innovation Awards

– CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric off-road performance motorcycles, is honored to be named as a finalist for the Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards. This is the brand’s tenth award nomination overall since launch this past January. The inaugural awards recognize design, innovation and achievement in the outdoor industry, and as part of the awards, CAKE’s first model, the Kalk, will be on display at the Innovation Gallery at Winter Market from November 8 - 11.

“We are honored to be recognized by the committee,” says Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of CAKE. “We officially launched the brand at Outdoor Retailer in January and to be a finalist in the inaugural Innovation Awards is extremely flattering.”

The inaugural Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards, presented by Capital One Spark Business, were created to recognize design, innovation and achievement in the outdoor industry. A panel of 12 judges with varying backgrounds in design, retail, education, entrepreneurship, and journalism narrowed down entries to determine the thirty-two finalists advancing to the final round. Judges evaluated entries based on a variety of factors, including concept, design, functionality, originality, sustainability and impact. Winners will be unveiled during a live ceremony on November 8 during the first night of Outdoor Retailer Winter Market at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Built with a purpose to inspire people to contribute to speeding up the journey towards a zero emission society by combining excitement and responsibility, the all-electric high-performance off-road motorbike brand is designed for exploration and discovery. First launched this past January at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Denver, the first model - the Kalk - was recognized as “Best in Show” by several outdoor industry publications and has received numerous accolades since. With a focus on design, performance and innovation, every single component of the Kalk had to be custom built, resulting in numerous patents pending. The CAKE Kalk proves electric vehicles can still be aesthetically pleasing while being eco-friendly.

The Kalk costs $13,000 USD, and is now available now for order on ridecake.com with a deposit of $1,000 USD. Bikes will be delivered from January onwards.
