CAKE Worlds Race 2022 finals on Gotland – silent, electric motocross – has been finished

A total 16 female and male riders representing 11 different nationalities competed

CAKE, the Swedish maker of premium lightweight, electric motorcycles, today acknowledged the winners of CAKE Worlds Race Gotland, held on Saturday in a tight track at Tjauls Gård north of Visby, Sweden, the finals of the global 2022 racing series. After a packed weekend of clean, electric racing, gathering world athletes, the top German motocross rider Mara Benecke, and Mike Giese, US professional mountain bike rider and ex-professional motocross racer ended up winners and CAKE One Design Race world champions.

Sanna Kärkkäinen, the Finnish World Cup and European enduro champion, commented:

Race was awesome, I loved it! Track was perfect and there were tight fights which is good for the riders and for the spectators. Bike was really good as you could change the modes to fit the bike better for you. I appreciate the work that CAKE is putting on environmental sustainability. It's really important nowadays as we all can see the climate change going fast. Also this is more reachable for spectators as tracks can be built in small areas near people and it doesn't cause noise.

Big congrats to the CAKE Worlds Race 2022 finals titles:

Ladies

1. Mara Benecke (GER)

2. Ashley Fiolek (USA)

3. Sandra Gomez (SPA)

Men

1. Mike Giese (USA)

2. Robert Kvarnström (SWE)

3. Oskar Olsson (SWE)

A clean, quiet alternative for the future

CAKE Worlds was created to demonstrate how the benefits of Cake’s electric motorcycles are able to transform two-wheeled racing, offering a future-proofed alternative to the receding world of fossil fueled racing. The silent, zero-polluting motorcycles are raced on tight, spectator-friendly tracks – that in turn can be built cost-efficiently in urban environments, further lowering the bar of entry to the sport.

“CAKE Worlds is all about spreading the joy of bike riding, proving that it is inclusive while showing that it’s possible to enjoy motorbike racing without polluting or disturbing the local community. With 70 percent of all motorsport tracks having closed their doors in the past 15 years, mainly due to issues of noise and pollution, we see a clear opportunity to establish a new racing format that everyone can enjoy", explained Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of CAKE.
